Short Term Goals

Art - Personal
Further my education into 3D Animation/Game Development. Develop my Illustration/Drawing technique into such a level that I can break into the Illustration/Comic/Art industry comfortably. Participate and win an Art/Design Competition/Award. Get featured in a magazine.

Ventures - Personal
Continue working on this current project I'm involved in (FS) and see it to the finish. Develop and learn new business skills as I work with two others who are (arguably) more experienced in the business side. Setting up a milestone to ready the prototype (design wise) in the coming month or two. Start working on other projects.

Work - Career
Advance my current position in Lancer Design. My boss has been talking about picking out me and two other designer to form a new unit, which will focus on something else altogether. Rendy (another Indonesian designer) will head that team while me and the other designer (Edmond) will assist and support him. This will be interesting, and if I do stay till this came around, I will hope to make it a more conducive environment to design and work. If it doesn't work, then I aim to at least obtain a PR Status - and then get a better job.

Portfolio - Personal
Work on finishing a portfolio site that I can be proud of, and update it regularly. Start printing newer pieces. Apply to 20/20.

Health & Personal
Exercise! Continue Sunday morning sports activities, when the weather permits. Set out at least one hour each day to develop my drawing skills. Maintain and update my blog!

Day 8 - Reminiscence

According to my day-to-day .JPEG savings, this is currently the 8th day in which I worked on my drawings. I'm personally quite pleased with it, and tho its far from finished, I'll be working on other things in the next 1-2 days. I have something in mind for my brother and his mates, the SmooveJump team. I'm gonna try out some other styles/techniques with that so it'll be interesting.

On personal note, she came online today and as usual, bear toyed around on MSN - chatting her up and teasing me (he's a bugger). Shit~! This is a weird feeling, actually it's quite a lot like when I fell for this HK girl back in the States. It was the same problem, she (lets call her V) had a boyfriend, much like NL (you know who). And much like NL, whose boyfriend are away in NS, V's boyfriend was in HK (long-distance). Things happened pretty fast back then, we went out a few times (in groups and also just alone at times) and chatted a lot. But then I backed out. She had a boyfriend after all and .. umm .. well, things just didn't work out.

I didn't even try much with NL this time round, but what felt eerily similar was how me and V got really weird towards each other after that. Maybe it was just me thinking too much, not knowing how to act and stuff, but we never really got to be friends like we used to. With NL, it's not like we're good friends or what not before, but at least I could talk and act normal with her. Now, I feel like I wanted to scram, dash out and hide whenever she's around. I'm pretty sure I'm just putting too much thoughts into it, but when she came online today I really really did not know what to say to her. So I bummed out and kept myself busy instead. But boy it sure brings back memories - of what could have happened, and of what did happen.

What the hell is wrong with me~!? Ah boo boo, touch luck, who the heck cares? We've got FS meet tomorrow. Will also have to find out more information in regards to POOR.

Wahoooo

I'm loving my WACOM :D ~! Daredevil + Wolverine rocks! I'm aiming to finish this by the end of next week (29th June), hopefully in time for sending off my Dutch colleague. If not then .. never mind I'll just keep this for my first ever digital painting piece. I'm loving my tablet! The red also turns out pretty nice, and I was really worried I'm not doing things proper cause when I started it was just ugly plain flat red. Looking back at it tho I'm gonna have to work on the stick properly. It's .. not working~ .. :|

I do like how my pencilled Wolverine came into the picture tho~ muaha .. that's an hour I took from work! If I have the skills I would add Spidey towards this mix, one of my fave triple-team. But .. Spidey is really hard to draw. His posture, his costume .. I'm gonna have to pass for now as I keep practicing.

Dare Devil + Wolverine

I did not realize how amazingly tired I was until I crashed home today at approximately 8.30 pm (quite early by my standard) and went straight to bed. Initially I set myself a 2 hour nap and was planning to get back up to do some work and what not. The two hour dragged to four, and when I woke up at around midnight, Bear's comment made things much clearer - "You're so tired, why not go back to sleep?"

Yup, straight back to bed I went.

So my drawings had to wait some more. So did FutureScape and NKC. As I woke up a tad too early however, I spent a quick 10 minutes sketching out what I wanted to do with Dare Devil. He's kind of a lonely guy so I had wanted to tag-team him with another favorite of mine - Wolverine. Here's the quick 10 minute sketch.

Dare Devil

I've been drawing a lot of random figures recently. Not detailed enough for people to be able to notice who these characters are, but practice makes perfect and I'm quite amazed by how much I've progressed just in the past week. As per the title, this one is of Dare Devil, with his trademark nunchaku/stick thingie. He's charging down towards evil-doers, raining vengeance upon Hell's Kitchen! Will work it some more and color it one day (I hope).

It's Only The FIRST Week

All right! So it has only been a week. Not even there yet actually, only about THREE days. Naturally, like a geek who's just bought a new toy, I'm all ga-ga over this blogging thing and felt the urge to post and post and post. About anything basically! Like now when I'm just done with lunch next door. There were these three aunties that were really dragging the chicken rice queue wayyyy longer than usual. Want the meat like this want that meat, in the end also let the guy choose which meat... shit. And how I miss FRIENDS. I really should get the full-box set dvd or something. I've actually been reading the script online. Just the text mind you, but the scenes played themselves out in my head as I try to keep myself awake. Not that I'm not busy mind you, but its just that I'm busy waiting for feedback. And they do come back, it'll be late, I'll be swamped, and .. I'll have to Over Time .. again.

But still! I do have something to show off this time around. This is just something I did while lazing around at work today. I kinda like this tag, and when time permits, I'll color/vector it and use it for something, somehow. =D

It reads, Killed in Action - a tag for my own close knit group of friends. Not unlike the gang of six in the famed TV Series, we even have our own Central Perk, a place to call our own, where we go to just to hang out and slack - Eunos Kopitiam! Or perhaps Kia's House, our MJ Central?

Waha, I hope I can put this up on k.i.4 blogsite (now sadly defunct), or something like that. We'll see ;)

I'm so tired, but ... motivated ... !!! :D

We continued working on FS today and it feels good to see us starting to get back on track. It has been ages since I touched the layout design for that, so yes I do feel a bit of guilt at neglecting this particular project. I do feel however, that the fault is more caused by the timing. Teh's exam came, and then it was Bear, and all in between my mom came over, shit happened at work (as usual) and I really sort of lost track of this baby.

But alas! Work as resumed and from a design standpoint, I'm aiming to get the rough draft layout approved next Monday. Followed with necessary Flash/HTML coding out 2 weeks after approval. It sounds real slow I know but I'm just making sure I have enough time to divide between work and drawing.

After our meeting I had to work some more on NKC's posters. It's 2.30 am now and I'm finally quite satisfied with these 2 variations I have for NKC 2007. First is just a tweaking of the finalized design, while the second one is a proposed supporting visual.





Holy shit I'm tired. But now I get to draw! GaaaaaaaaaaaaaAAHH

First Post - National Karting Challenge 2007!

Our little discussion today has led to the birth of this blog, along with three others if my mates are up to their promises. This shall be our little k.i.4 project in which I record my thoughts and growth, and keep others updated. Hopefully, we will spur each other to maintain these blogs, and more will join!

My first post will be to show off the poster design I did for National Karting Challenge 2007, whee ..



There are still things to be done however! I'm shooting for two other variations of this visual. I'm really quite excited as they are giving me quite a free rein. My initial plan is to keep the Kart and typography, and just switching the background to a different style of graphic, while retaining the orange colors. We'll see how it goes, and I'll be sure to keep this blog updated with the progress!

About the event itself, its basically a race carnival for the public. Enthusiasts can throw down during the competition, while the fun-loving family can come enjoy the carnival and various fun stuff thats happening! I'm quite impressed with the organizational committee, who are all students! But still, we already have one HUGE sponsor - Clear Channel!! Naturally, I'm f***ing excited to learn that this poster I designed will be plastered all over Singapore =D
